Aloha and welcome back to Aloha Activism ; Aloha Ola O Ka Pono .

It is a beautiful sunny day in Pohoiki, Hawaiian Kingdom. Here's today's mid day update on the We Are Puna Community :

We Are Puna has been actively supporting the A'OLE PGV movement by using the hashtags #wearepuna and #itstimewebreathe , as well as writing letters to people of power who could help address this issue . We have called multiple calls to action (since 2022) , standing in solidarity and will hold mamy more in 2023 . We have also created two petitions , Our efforts have been successful as both community petitions we created have been approved and have many , many actual victims signatures from Puna, Hawaii (www.change.org/lerzkilauearecovery & www.change.org/pgvpetitionaole ) .

We even had the chance of sitting with Honolulu Civil Beat when they came to town in their pop up newsroom , for a long time, this past week in Pahoa, Hawaii, to update them on the issues we have been fighting for decades (see previous article in this blog )

You as well can help this movement by using these hashtags amd sharing out any information you see .

We are now urging everyone to write letters to the county auditor and all those representing us in office to take action and help Puna.

"For 35 years, our community has been subjected to gas leaks, and the people have been demanding this stop and some form of monitoring be installed for decades now . The situation has worsened over time, and we are in desperate need of help. We have tried reaching out to various authorities, but to no avail.

I do know it is important to reach out to the right people. We need to contact the local government officials, such as the mayor or city council members. Additionally, consider reaching out to any advocacy groups or human rights organizations for support. Tell everyone you see about it and supporting this movement.

It is crucial to document any instances of gas leaks here in LERZ PUNA HAWAII, and keep a record of all communication with authorities and organizations. This will help in building a case and holding those responsible accountable. And please Remember, you are not alone and there are people here who have been enduring the same thing since 1989. "

In addition to starting the #WeArePuna movement (which is fighting israeli owned ormat Puna Geothermal Venture ) , we have also started the Kilauea Recovery #WeAreKilauea movement, and we urge all to help support it by using the hashtags #wearekilauea and #ItsTimeWeRecover.

We believe that it is important to come together as a community to recover from the recent events and move forward in a positive direction.

We need to actually bring enrichment and recovery into the areas that lost everything in 2018, not just up in pahoa and out towards hilo side .

It IS SO crucial that we all take action and make our voices heard. We urge everyone to write letters to those in office and demand that something be done to help Puna. Together, we can make a difference and create a better future for our community.
