Find Aloha Activism (a sector of #KahuPuna community organization) on Facebook & Instagram @KahuPuna

Heres a summary of this article , putting what we will be talking about into a clear and concise way- then I will continue on with my own personal Journaling of the meeting below . Thank you for taking the time to stay informed on the Puna community . Here we go!

Yesterday, the Puna community sat down with the reporters from Honolulu Civil Beat to discuss the A'OLE PGV movement. This movement has been ongoing for 35 years in Puna, Hawaii. The meeting provided an opportunity for community members to voice their concerns and share their experiences. (See the social media post from A'OLE PGV FB Group, Sara Steiner notifying the affected community about this pop up newsroom , and then the call to action we put out afterwards to tell anyone who wanted to be there to share concerns, to be there )

During the meeting, the community members expressed their frustration with the lack of action taken by the government to address the issue. They also discussed the negative impact the PGV plant has had on the environment and their health. The reporters from Honolulu Civil Beat listened attentively and asked insightful questions, helping to shed light on this important issue.

Community members Dea Rackley and Rocky Kalani on the left (KU KIAI'S OF PUNA) speaking with deputy editor Nathan and big island reporter Paula of Honolulu Civil beat, explaining how distressing, and physically/mentally draining, it is to live next to PGV and having to be sick, also watching their 3 year old grandson be sick, and not be able to do anything about it.

Overall, the meeting was a productive one, allowing the civil beat reporters to be caught up to speed on the A'OLE PGV movement. It is important that the voices of the community are heard and that action is taken to address their concerns.

Community members wore red to stand in solidarity with TUTU PELE'S HOME, LERZ PUNA , as the #WeArePuna #AOLEPGV movement . Deputy editor Nathan came outside, as we all were meeting inside the library, and got photos of us all by the big sign on the truck , as well as got some video of me personally , and also of Rocky singing one of his super sacred MELE's (Song) for Puna and Hawaiian Kingdom .

I want to now take the time to express my own personal take on the reporters and the meet. When we first arrived , I was not sure what to expect . After all, we the community have written Civil beat many times about this issue, and never does it get published or any response. This barely phases anyone in the community at this point. Because it's been 35 years of this corruption and complete cover ups of a sick community being gassed , no media will be brave enough to seemingly do whats right, so it definetly makes the beautifuland resilient people of Puna a bit wary of any who do say they will be looking into it and writing a article .

I do however , HAVE HIGH HOPES after actually speaking with Nathan and Paula . At first, it didn't seem like Paula was that interested, as she was funneling people off to the side to ask what they wanted to talk about , and from what people were saying who were there waiting to speak "she wasn't choosing locals , she was choosing new mainlander transplants who just moved to puna " to have them speak and talk about concerns. They need to hear from lifelong puna people , seems to have been a concern ..

I will say, this was a general consensus, immediately when we arrived , we were told by 3 different people to speak to "the male reporters, not the female"... but after being in there and speaking with her , and telling her we are here for the 175 people who are sick of being sick down there , and that it would be smart for Civil beat to be the brave media outlet to bring awareness to this, she started to realize that maybe thus IS a big issue and not just a few crazy punatics who don't "like" the geo.

I do have a amazing video from this meet, of Lona who speaks about the heavy metals and cleansing them out of our bodies. I am trying to get it uploaded but it's 3 minutes almost and taking really long. Check back later for it .

We all walked in , in our RED , right up to the newsroom, and I bet you, they could feel our presence , they could feel tutu pele, they could feel PUNA Rising by the time us 3 wahines walked in (myself, Dea , and Michelle Tippens -- who actually is running for congress, vote for her) . We walked up and sat down along with more who were already inside , and immediately they were wrapped up in decades of controversies that they never thought they would be in .

Uncle Rocky spoke for a while , as did Dea , they spoke with such heart , such LOVE for PUNA and for us all. They are sick of being sick, and sick if living in one of the most sacred places on the globe, yet being under constant threat to their lives due to the gassings by PGV , and how this needs to end TODAY . uncle Rocky gave lots of information about the heavy metals and toxins we are all forced to endure daily down here , shoved down our throats, and aunty Dea spoke about having to watch her sweet grandson throw up and feel so sick from the air during the last leak April 14th by they DIDNT NOTIFY THE COMMUNITY THEY WERE GASSING UNTIL 3 DAYS AFTER .

Another amazing speaker was Lona , she works in the medical field , and lives in the area and is sick of the corruption and cover ups as well, she speaks of mercury and heavy metals and its affects as well as cleansing our body of them , and her experiences living in a community held hostage basically by this foreign entity . I really wish we could get all of puna who live in the radius a cleanse . Thank you Lona .

I spoke about what it's like being a human that was born and raised basically in a sunken in bowl acre where the gasses would settle , like a seed with roundup as its soil . I was born in 1988 , and when I was 1 year old PGV came into my neighborhood. I have never ever known clean air or health since then, my family would be paid to go stay in koma weeks at a time whenever the air was bad , our birds would always die and that's how we knew it was time to go . I have a father with 90% mercury poisoning, and a daughter who now has h2s poisoning so bad anytime the grey haze settles , yet now in 2023 Hawaii Civil defense , Hawaii ema, PGV all ignore scared and sick residents, even when reporting actual real life leaks and grey haze and sending medical diagnosises!!

Before our group arrived at 1pm, Sara Steiner, Russell ruderman, Larry Wood, and others from Puna were there as well . They all spoke with the reporters , most importantly Sara steiner jackson, who has been fighting a case since 2015 with Israeli pgv for any type of monitoring for the community , yet they do everything in their power to NOT monitor and even have judges quitting seemingly due to not being able to go against this above all law on earth illegal corrupt foreign entity . She also happens to be my mama .

To say this is extremely dangerous and life threatening is a understatement . Plus we have mister Fink from Hawaii DOH who just under the radar approved them for countless new wells, when there's literal lawsuits for this reason and they KNOW people are sick from it !! You cannot do this to us any longer , just so yall know ,

PUNA. IS. RISING.

AND BET YOUR OKOLE , PGV IS ON ITS LAST DAYS

MARK. MY. WORDS.

I do want to thank them for taking the time to listen to us, even taking extra time to come out get photos and videos , and to try and help us be heard . This HAS been covered up way to long . And it's now time we breathe.

Jazzy
