As a woman who has lived in this community since birth, I am deeply concerned about the impact of PGV on our health. The lack of monitoring and regulation has resulted in numerous health issues for myself and my neighbors. (And guess what, still to this day. Especially after dark, its intense . EVERY DAY it seems in 2023, WE ARE BEING GASSED OUT, H2S, Heavy metals. DOWN HERE IN 2023, with not onw single monitor, at all , for hundreds and hundreds down in the wind paths , SOS!!)

I am writing for myself, but more importantly, for my beautiful child who is so sick she basically was pulled out of public school this past year, due to the grey haze and her being si incredibly sick from it most days, and im writing for my dad who has 90% mercury poisoning due to living at the base of this entity for 30 years, and last but not least, im writing for over 230 other residents who signed the petition in the past couple months (over 150 of those signed within 10 days, who are directly affected 24/7 www.change.org/pgvpetitionaole ) I am writing to explain why i strongly oppose PGV as someone who has severly suffered first hand my entire life due to it, and to urge you not to approve the EIS.

The EIS in question appears to be a mere repeat of the 1987 version, its as if it could have been merely copy/pasted by a high schooler or younger , lacking in any significant updates or improvements. It is EXTREMELY CONCERNING that such an important document could be written with such little attention to detail.

The health and well-being of our community should not be taken lightly, and a more comprehensive and thorough EIS is necessary.

The community surrounding Puna Geothermal Venture has called out for help now for decades , stating that they refuse to live with this in their backyards any longer, stating how sick they are, raising concerns for over 3 decades to no avail , only being forced to endure it more and more , and are now COMPLETELY fed up with getting mocked, ridiculed and covered up.

It's basically common kmowledge around here that they majorly influenced the 2018 eruption by pumping millions of gallons a day of COLD WATER INTO A LAVA ERUPTION … we literally simply do not know what we still would have had they not done that. Plain and simple.

Just this past January alone, and April, we had bad leaks which made many in the community sick. Visible grey haze was wafting in our yards for days, keiki so sick they can barely stand, can't stop throwing up and can't breathe, in the urgent care enduring hours of breathing treatments due to H2S POISONING from Puna Geothermal Venture, and yet they are riding high above all law on earth, self regulating with never one actual regulation or montir, actively covering up the community its desecration and making very sick and scared for their lives . Human rights are majorly being obliterated by the hands of people in charge of approving and or denying these permits, wells and EIS..

You guys can't ignore the health of hundreds in Puna .

For 30 years, my family and I have lived at the base of this chemical warzone that is your "friendly neighborhood "Geothermal (LOL ITS NOT CLEAN ENERGY WHEN HUMANS ARE SICK FOR DECADES YEAH!!! lmao helloooo WAKE UP!) .

I have witnessed firsthand the payoffs and cover-ups that have allowed this geothermal to operate, despite the devastating effects it has had on our health. Three generations of my family have suffered from illnesses that we can directly attribute to the toxic chemicals that are released into the air and water by Geothermal!!! How is this even allowed to continue, the fact that this EIS is even entertained, blows my mind.

As the person in charge of approving the new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Geothermal, I implore you to consider the human cost of this operation. The profits that are generated by Geothermal are not worth the lives and health of the people who live in its shadow. RESEARCH THE LONG TERM EFFECTS IF H2S EXPOSURE and how BAD IT IS FOR HUMANS, and see the videos from inside the PGV "community meetings" which they admit themselves how bad this all is in the air and see for yourself hiw they act to the concerned people who are sick ( www.youtube.com/@KahuPuna )

It is time to put an end to the cover-ups and payoffs that have allowed this chemical warzone to continue operating for so long.

I urge you to have a heart and to prioritize human life over the profits that are generated by Geothermal. The people who live in the shadow of this operation deserve to live healthy and safe lives, free from the toxic chemicals that have plagued us for far too long. It is time to take action and to put an end to the devastating effects of Geothermal.

In conclusion, i also must say, I implore you to consider the impact of PGV on our community and to reject the current EIS proposal. You will be a actual hero , helping a community that has been covered up for way to long to actually breathe again.

The health and safety of our residents should be the top priority, the preservation of our culture, and a more thorough and up-to-date EIS is absolutely necessary to ensure that our concerns are properly addressed. Private would be the only way to go, as everyone seems to be paid off by ogv and we can't get anyone to actually help the people. A privately owned organization to perform the EIS, and someone recently started a gofund me to do this exact thins. I hope to see them successful.

It's nothing other then a disgrace, and completely sinister what is being allowed to happen here in LERZ Puna, and the community directly being affected , for way to long in the Puna Geothermal Venture radius , demand its end now . It's time to do the right thing.
