-In 2009, Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) filed a lawsuit against the state of Hawaii in an effort to overturn a moratorium on new geothermal development

-In March of 2014, the case was dismissed after PGV failed to provide evidence that the moratorium was unconstitutional

-In December of 2014, PGV filed a new lawsuit against the state, this time alleging that the moratorium is unconstitutional because it was passed without a public hearing

-In March of 2016, the case was dismissed again after PGV failed to provide evidence that the moratorium was unconstitutional

-In September of 2016, PGV filed a new lawsuit against the state, this time alleging that the moratorium has caused the company significant financial losses

-In December of 2016, the case was dismissed again after PGV failed to provide evidence that the moratorium had caused the company significant financial losses
