To endure mental health struggles is hard enough as it is in this day and age, but here in the beautiful Hawaiian Kingdom, you're virtually out of luck.
If this is relatable to you, then this is the article for you. Have your pen and paper ready to write some important contacts down .
See, in my beautiful town , born and raised , Pahoa, Hawaii, the medical system is the hugest joke the United States has told since its creation.
When you have any medical issues, your basically left to fend for yourself . Every resident in our lower income communities are stuck with having to go to "Bay Clinic", which is the epitome of Medical Malpractice , for as far back as i can remember, Due to level of poverty meaning most families and individuals are stuck with the state insurance , which all goes to bay clinic.
And From my own personal experiences, it took 10 years of severe medical malpractice from bay clinic. The CPTSD I have, the trauma I have from the Hawaii health care system is something I pray noone else EVER has to endure.
They actually caused me to spiral so far , for years and years due to them simply not being smart enough to do their jobs and figure out why a young mother cant function every day .
To be at such a loss , stuck in such chronic pain , and mental trauma, for a decade, and to be treated as a malingerer for so long, to be called crazy for so long and doctors doing everything in their power to not actually help those in pain due to the opioid war, made me truly empathize with all those in this world who turn to hard drugs , or ens up so lost and feeling so helpless that they end their own lives .
It took 10 years of medical malpractice on Hawaii Island (even the hospital, all they would do every time , is dopeme up and send me home, telling me "everythings fine" when it SOOO WAS NOT.
Even my family started looking at me with doubtful eyes (still do, all of them ), because they just kept seeing me be sent home and all reports ok.
Long story short, i finally found a doctor from the heavens above , a doctor who actually knew how to do his job and be a doctor . (All the fake ones with degrees here on Hawaii Island, dont know anything about 3 of my chronic conditions, which is why i was treated like a drug seeker for so long. They TOOK AWAY 10 YEARS OF MY LIFE, SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL TO LAZY TO ACTUALLY TRY TO HELP. )
And, he is such a great intelligent man. He used to be the tour doctor for the actual ROLLING STONES 🎶🎶🎶 , he graduated Yale and has been practicing for 52 years . He knew upon first glance what was ailing me, our first appointment he went straight to my issues without me even saying it. Tears just never stopped pouring out. Still to this day , I can't keep dry eyes when thinking about how truly grateful I am , for my Doctor now. And this is something that is so important when we have chronic issues, a doctor we can trust.
He actually knew that my severe pain was from my SI JOINT in hip (si-bone.com , info on it , so many women suffer from this and just are told it's "back pain " from their actual MD's.) Which explained the lost 10 years of my life: SI rips/tears DONT SHOW IN ANY NORMAL ROUTES OF IMAGING -- NO XRAY DIAGNOSIS, NO MRI DIAGNOSIS , AND NO CT SCAN WILL EVER SEE THIS. The only way to diagnose a ripped SI (which leads to soooo much lifelong severe issues if left untreated for so long, as mine was ) is to have a invasive diagnostic procedure done inside the hospital, where they actually enter the hip joint.
Another thing to add is that noone in Hawaii knows about this.
Meaning, We cannot even fathom how many hundreds of thousands of women have suffered , for their whole lives , and felt crazy because they kept being told everything's fine when it's not.
The Dr that I magically found, was actually doing a huge study on this exact issue and it being misdiagnosed in women when I met him, and just my luck, he was friends with the ACTUAL SPECIALIST WHO CREATED THE SURGERY TO FIX THIS ISSUE , IN MAUI, HAWAII, named Dr. Taleghani. I currently am about to be prepped for double SI surgery, due to take place next spring , after we come home from Switzerland (Taking my daughter and her daddy to show them where my dads family is from. 🇨🇭 )
Anyway now that I got that massive background story out, you can kind of see why I say Hawaii has no good medical systems ..
That was for physical issues. When we dig into MENTAL Health , we are met with crickets . There's not nearly enough organizations providing help to those in need . There's not nearly enough therapists, and that's just normal therapy I'm referring too.
I have had one good therapist in all my Years here , Dr.V , and sadly since he retired haven't found another. I even was sent to the hospital PSYCHIATRIC ward to have sessions with the neuro therapist , and it turned out to be a big eye rolling session at me,telling me how she "understands" everything before I even Said it. There was no real specialists at the hospital psychiatric neuro office, they literally had lower level nurses. I didn't understand it , how can people really get help in Hawaii when going through mental health issues?! These worrys are what led me to make this post and share a great platform.
If you need C-PTSD focused therapy,a TRAUMA specialist (which is what we NEED with #CPTSD, a regular therapist couldnt even begin to process what we need to process and honestly can throw you way off track with healing), you are really going to have a hard time finding this here on the Big Island.
It is something I want to help with (once I have worked through a bit more of my own personal trauma , so that I can help others better , I plan to open my own #Faith/#Spirituality based Mental #Health #Support Platform non profit for the people of Puna. )
So you can imagine how happy this silly little Punatic got while looking through the NAMI HAWAII's website! It gives me hope, and I must share it with the world!!
So , without further adue , I am THRILLED to share NAMI HAWAII DOT ORG with you 💫🌹🌈🥰🙏
